Advanced Email Search

The advanced search facility in Rainmail Email allows users to search the content of the mailboxes using many criteria. This tool can be used to search for emails within a selected folder.

  • To use Advanced Search :
  1. Click on the folder you want to search in.
  2. Click on the Search icon from the menu (indicated by the red oval)

  1. The following dialog appears. User can search based on various parameters. The parameters are explained in the table below:

Red Oval 
Subject 
Enter the search text in the corresponding edit box. All emails with Subject field containing the specified search string will be returned

Green Oval 
Sender 
Enter the first few characters of sender's email address in the corresponding edit box. All emails with Sender field containing the specified search string will be retrieved

Brown Oval 
Recipient 
Enter the first few characters of recipient's email address in the corresponding edit box. All emails with Recipient field containing the specified search string will be retrieved

Gray Oval 
Recipient (CC) 
Use this to retrieve emails containing the specified search string in the CC field

Pink Oval 
Body 
Enter the search text in the corresponding edit box. All emails containing the specified search string in the body of the message will be retrieved

Blue Oval 
Received Before: 
Use this to retrieve all emails received prior to the specified date. The date can be chosen using the included calendar icon

Black Oval 
Received Since: 
Use this to retrieve all emails received after to the specified date. The date can be chosen using the included calendar icon

Yellow Oval 
Flagged 
Using this option users can search for email messages based on whether a message is flagged or not-flagged. Use the list box provided to select the criteria

Orange Oval 
Answered 
Using this option users can search for email messages based on whether a message has been replied to or not. Use the list box provided to select the criteria

Purple Oval 
Read 
Using this option users can search for email messages based on whether a message is read or unread. Use the list box provided to select the criteria

Red rectangle 
Search in 
This option allows the user to select folders to search emails in
  1. Current folder searches only in current folder and displays the results.
  2. Search recursive searches in current folder and all its sub-folders.
  3. All folders searches in all of user folders.
 

  1. Multiple search conditions can be specified and in such cases, emails matching all the conditions are retrieved
  2. Once the parameters are entered, clicking on Search button
  3. Emails matching the specified criteria are retrieved
 

  • To return to the previous view of the folder's contents, Click on Reset Search button (indicated by the red oval)
